Crazy World Events with Ang & Mindi

After a day of helping out a new ceiling on the front porch…

And while dinner was being prepared, news broke that former President Trump had been shot at a campaign rally for the 2024 election:

After chatting about this sad situation at dinner, we realized that Mindi and Angie were together all day when 9/11 happened, and when Covid-19 broke out in March of 2020 and now when former President Trump was shot! 

After all that, there was still an evening of euchre to be played. In the first two games we’re back and forth:

Game 1 went to Ang & Mike by the score of 10-2

Game 2 was a bounce back by Howie & Mind at 10-4

Game 3 started strong for H&M as they were leading 8-3, but in the end Angie is the winner 10-9 with a final trick being a 2 pointer to win!

Game 4 was an exact clone of game 3!! It started strong for H&M as they were leading 8-3, but in the end Angie is the winner 10-9 with a final trick being a 2 pointer to win!

One more game for fun to wrap up the visit and Angie and Mike were up 8-7 when Angie got a loner to seal the victory at 12-7🥳🥳🎉🎉

The Country Dream Livin House and Master Gardens

Mike and Mindi showed up late last evening and got to see all the amazing work that Howie and Angie had done inside. Today, on this beautiful summer day, we got to see their new building, gardens and chickens. 

Over wine that both Angie & Mindi had as kids—kidding, muscadine white wine that tastes like grapes they ate as kids— 

and some ice cream…

Pink Swan Event!!! August 2, 2022

After a long day at the Zoo and some amazing Greek food Howie and Mindi were on a rolllllllllllll…

They won Game 1: 10-7, then Game 2: 10-6 and three in a row with a 10-3 trouncing in Game 3. 

It was a pink swan event! 

After getting rolled over, Angie and Mike bounced back to win the nightcap 10-5.

The mini-series of this visit has Howie & Mindi are ahead 9 games to 7.

A bit of house shopping (on July 31!)

On this pretty Sunday afternoon, we cruised out to Groveport to take a look at a 4+ acre property that has some land and that caught the fancy of the Pettengill’s … looks like they are gonna make an offer!

In the evening there was some healthy competition—

Game 1:

Howie & the Doc with a 10 - 3 drubbing 

Game 2:

Angie and Mike scored some points but still gave way to Howie 10-6

Game 3:

Angie proves her winning ways with a euchre of Mindi on the last hand  — the good guys win 10-8!!

Visit mini-series is tied 6 games to 6!

July 30, 2022

After Mike & Mindi became first time grandparents and were cruising around Indiana & Ohio and spent a few days with the Pettengill’s.  Howie had just retired weeks ago from his 27 years of service to the Columbus Police Department.

Game 1:

Ang & Mike win the first game— Angie had a loner hand in the middle as a come back. 

Game 2:

Howie & Dr. Mindi won 10-5 after the good doctor won 3 straight 2 pointers. 

Game 3:

They tried 

Ang & Mike slaughtered the opposition 10 - 3

They tried, but it wasn’t enough to stop the slaughter. 

July 2020 Hangout in Raleigh

It was a great weekend together here in Raleigh, NC with Howie, Angie, Emily and Mike, Mindi, & Katja. At a COVID Crazy time, they spent the weekend together in the humble apartment of the Jentes' in North Raleigh.  Euchre of course was part of the weekend and Angie the Winner showed her stripes as a huge WINNER -- at least in one game.

On Saturday, July 25 the Pettengills rolled into town to hang out for the weekend.

Game 1 - the team of Howie, Emily and Mindi (HEM) jumped out to first game win with a score of 34-14 over Katja, Angie & Mike (KAM). 2 Euchres in the first four rounds put KAM behind, and was an insurmountable lead.

Game 2 - KAM came back with a strong Game 2 to win 32-17







On Sunday, July 26  the rubber match was a lively battle, but the victory was an amazing thing as Ang called a 7/14 and WON in desperation 32-31 in the last trick of the game!

The rest of Sunday belonged to MEH (yes they changed their name) -- Mindi, Emily and Howie  demolished the KAM crew 33-14 and 37-12.

So for the first time in a LONG time the Mindi, Emily and Howie team emerged victorious!

Day 2 with Dominance by Ang the winner

Dr. Mindi has an activator training in Columbus most of the day Saturday, so we waited until evening to play. The world stopped for the Coronavirus, and there was some beautiful snowfall thro the day.

With 6 of us here at the Pettengill Residence in Etna, we buckled in for 6 man euchre. Teams were the Good Guys (Ang the winner, Katja & Mike - aka “Them” vs. Mindi, Howie and Emily (aka bad guys or “Us.”

Game one was a strong start by the Good Guys with a 32-18 win.

Game 2 was a rout for “them”/ Good Guys at 36-8. 

The final game of the night was a back and forth affair with both teams going backward and forward. It lasted a long, long time and finally the Good Guys won 35-19. Total Domination by Ang the Winner!!
